What We Do
Go Commando work on both large and small scale projects and we need your help to fundraise to allow us to carry out this work. We are an independent charity who work on many sole projects but are also immensely proud of our working relationship with the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF), the leading charitable organisation of the Royal Marines Corps and join up with them where ever possible to contribute funding to larger projects which sit within our charitable aims, to support the RM Family. Often we work with others to almonise funds and share financial responsibilities.
We appreciate our involvement with the Royal Navy Royal Marines (RNRMC) Grant Giving Scheme, on many of these projects. The RNRMC are the parent charitable organisation of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Corps. Go Commando are also proud to be a member of the Somerset Board of the Ministry of Defence incentive, The Armed Forces Community Covenant – a scheme which seeks to join up and integrate military families within their local communities.
What have we achieved so far:
- Funding and services for RM Families Childcare Creche/Nursery Facilities
- Subsidised Fitness classes for RM Wives and Partners
- Assistance for bereaved RM families
- Funding for RM Kids Outdoor Play Garden
- Holidays and Days Out for injured RM’s and their families
- Subsidised Theatre/Panto/Attractions tickets for RM Families during times of deployment
- Provision of funding for start up of Families Club at 43 Commando RM
- Provision of funding for individual needs for RM families
- Funds, entertainers and catering for RM Kids Xmas parties, clubs and activities
- Back to work training courses for RM Wives and Partners
- RM Family Fun Days/Special Occasions
We have contributed funding towards:
- Homecoming celebrations for both 40 & 42 Commando RM
- New RM Family Caravan at Polzeath, Cornwall
- Holiday for disabled RM and family
- Memorial Garden at RM Chivenor
- Decoration of Families Room at 42 Commando RM
- Summer Activities Camp for RM Kids
